Satu Mare is the county town of Satu Mare and it lies in the valley of the Somes (Szamos) river.
There are some remarcable floral rarities in the parks of the town.
In the vicinity of the town (8 km) is a forest, the Noroieni forest. This is a popular place where the population of the zone spend the spare time.

The Bódi Villa renovated in 2002, is furnished with elegant antique furniture from the XIX. century.
