Covasna is the "town of 1000 springs".
It lies at 35 km from the county town, Sfantu Gheorghe, at 19 km from Targu Secuiesc and at 60 km from Brasov. It can be also reached by railway from Brasov. This health resort, rich in natural therapeutic values, lies at the south-eastern edge of the (inner) basin of the Eastern Carpathians, at the southern corner of the Upper-Háromszék basin, at an altitude of 550-600 m.
There is a varied composition of the mineral water layers. Due to its natural health factors - medicinal waters, mofettes, mild climate - it can be ranked among the famous spas of Europe.
